HAFA Program

HAFA program or Home Affordable Foreclosure Alternatives is a government sponsored program providing distressed homeowners with alternatives to foreclosure.  HAFA provides more benefit to the homeowner over a foreclosure in that participation the program will alleviate any promissory notes or possibility of deficiency judgments and the homeowner will not be asked to contribute toward the mortgage debt at the close of escrow. Participation in the program may also trigger a mandatory foreclosure postponement allowing the homeowner a minimum of 120 days and a maximum of 360 days to sell the property.

Homeowners are provided with up to $3000 at close for relocation expenses, and a successful short sale will allow the homeowner to purchase another home sooner than if the home was foreclosed upon.
